Wardrobe Staff

The new immersive show, Life and Trust, is looking to hire Part Time Wardrobe positions. This role is responsible for preserving and maintaining all elements of the Costume design of Life and Trust to the quality of the design intention. Candidates will be responsible for preserving the good condition of all Wardrobe and Costume elements and ensure that they are safe and well functioning

 

Candidates applying for the Part time Wardrobe position have the opportunity for the position to become full time for those who excel in the job description and responsibilities detailed below.

 

The successful candidates will maintain organization in the dressing room, aid cast members in the organization and care of their costumes, and be the point person between the wardrobe supervisor and the cast.  This position also requires candidates to maintain and alter all assigned costume pieces according to the wardrobe supervisor’s specifications as well as proactively mending or flagging any future damage or alterations  while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the end of show laundering and stain treatment of all costumes following set wardrobe procedures.
  • Organize and take note of costumes within the dressing room.
  • Proactively flag any damage, necessary alterations or mending needed on existing costumes.
  • Maintain wardrobe racks to contain complete costumes for each cast member. Be knowledgeable to the stock and able to utilize that knowledge as a resource during prep and occasionally mid show. 
  • Preset and strike all wardrobe elements, including setting makeup for in show application 
  • Taking wardrobe calls during the show
  • Dressing swings that are put in the show and quick change characters swinging into new roles. 
  • Doing repairs mid-show and performing day work during double shows. 
  • Assist cast members with any wardrobe or costume needs.
  • Be the first point of contact for wardrobe related questions between the cast and the wardrobe supervisor.
  • Assist advising cast members in hair and makeup styling. 
  • Construct and/or alter all assigned costumes according to the supervisor’s specifications.
  • Actively participate in a team consisting of the wardrobe supervisor and other full time and part time staff.
  • Understanding of the style and techniques necessary to complete the costume within the design’s guidelines.
  • Maintain the integrity of the costume design.
  • Comfortable using industrial, domestic, and serger sewing machines. Comfortable with hand sewing.
  • Steam, iron, hang up and prepare costumes for run of show preparations.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines, in a fast paced and high pressure environment.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs, as well as climb and reach on ladders and stairs
  • Extremely detail-oriented and responsible, and punctual. .
  • Ability to adapt easily to an ever-changing production process.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

*Can complete responsibilities and duties under the following conditions*

  • Strobing lights
  • Continuous, large quantities of haze 
  • Minimal to no lighting
  • Spaces which contain large amounts of dust & uneven flooring
  • Required half-masks worn by all employees during performance
  • Numerous trips up and down six floors, unaided by the elevator
